On Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America.
The Chapman Ranch is the perfect location to witness this rare, awe-inspiring astronomical event! Not only does the ranch offer unobstructed views of the solar eclipse, but it is in the path of totality of the eclipse. Our location will undergo nearly 5 full minutes of darkness, the longest available in North America!
As you can see below, the Chapman Ranch is located right in the rare ‘Two Eclipse Quadrant’ of the Texas Hill Country, which makes it an excellent viewing location for the 2023 annular eclipse and the 2024 total eclipse. Scientific experts have pointed out our area is receiving “celestial good luck on the grandest of scales”. Dr. Angela Speck (Professor of Astrophysics, University of Texas at San Antonio) explains that “There are about 375 years on average between total solar eclipses in a given location and thousands of years between getting two solar eclipses in a row so this is an extraordinary thing”.
The Chapman Ranch camp sites are easily accessible by RVs and camper trailers from HWY 127, 8 miles southeast of Concan, TX. Please note that due to local regulations, admission is limited to self-contained RV/camper trailers.
